The Holly Springs Public Works Department is responsible for providing many of the basic public services that contribute to the overall quality of life in the Holly Springs’ community. Whether you drive on city streets, visit a local park, or attend special events, the employees of the Holly Springs Public Works Department are here to help ensure that these routine activities are performed as trouble-free as possible.

Services
The Holly Springs Public Works Department maintains over 75 miles of streets and storm drains located within the city limits.  Other services provided by the Holly Springs Public Works Department include:

  • Street Sign Maintenance & Repair

  • Capital Improvement Projects

  • Christmas Tree Recycling

  • Bridge Maintenance

  • Storm Drain Maintenance & Repairs

  • Traffic Signal, Street Light & Sign Maintenance

  • Subdivision/Site Development Review & Inspection

  • Issuing Permits (Construction, Sidewalk & Public Right-Of-Way)

  • City Parking Lot Maintenance

  • City Vehicle Fleet Maintenance

  • Parks Maintenance

  • Tree Trimming

  • Right of Way Maintenance & Repair

Street maintenance activities are one of the primary responsibilities of the department.  Performed using a combination of in-house crews and private contractors, street maintenance activities include, but are not limited to:

  • Pothole Patching

  • Street Sweeping

  • Utility Cut Repairs

  • Crack Sealing

  • Pavement Marking

  • Resurfacing

Many of these preventative maintenance activities are paid for by Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) that the City of Holly Springs receives from Cherokee County.

In general, public streets are designed to last an average of fifteen years.  However, the number of years may vary by street depending on traffic volumes, vehicle weight and preventative maintenance activities.  Beyond this point, streets typically require reconstruction which is covered as part of the City’s annual Capital Improvement Program (CIP).

To report a pothole, missing street sign or other infrastructure problems, please call City Hall at (770) 345-5536 to open a work ticket.  We will work diligently to address your concern.
