Criminal Investigations Division

Captain Michael Hales(1)Managed by Captain Mike Hales, the Criminal Investigations Division (CID) is responsible for investigating all crimes that occur within the City of Holly Springs. Captain Hales joined the Department in 2015. He is a graduate of the Professional Management Program at Columbus State University, the FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development program, and the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police Chief Executive training course. Captain Hales’ experience spans over twenty years. During that time he has obtained his General Police Instructor Certification, and additional instructor certifications in firearms, emergency vehicle driving, police motor operator, and more.

Detectives that comprise the CID are responsible for investigating all crimes that occur within the City of Holly Springs, such as homicide, robbery, burglary, assault, missing persons and automobile theft as well as special circumstance crimes like forgery, fraud, cyber crime, identity theft, and embezzlement. Detectives conduct investigations, undercover operations, surveillance, interviews, and collect and process evidence.

Due to the complexity of the tasks assigned, personnel assigned to this division often interface with other local, state, and federal agencies, they undergo extensive continuing education to hone their skills and learn new techniques for solving crime. Holly Springs Detectives are committed to bringing offenders to justice by diligently seeking to discover the truth, undeterred by prejudice. This is achieved by compiling a comprehensive and factual case file for court presentation. The Criminal Investigative Division is also committed to increasing public awareness by educating the citizens of our community on methods to better protect themselves from being victimized by crime.
